2018 brought the addition of yet another new and unique bar scene for New Albany. The goal from the start has always been to bring something new and different that can’t be found anywhere in Louisville or Southern Indiana. The latest project is a separate venue located just behind the original Brew Haus offering both an ultra cool outdoor garden suitable for local live performing musicians and large groups and also a very hip indoor vibe in a warm quaint venue affectionately called The Grain Haus. The new property was acquired by Floyd County Brewing this year and then completely revamped to serve multiple purposes including storage space for the actual brewing grains used for all beers produced by Floyd County Brewing as well as a laid back hipster type environment for those looking to imbibe on one of the over 45 rotating craft brews and wines available while socializing and playing the many oversized games on hand. Recently, the next phase of evolution was unveiled when a commercial wood fired brick oven pizza kitchen was built on to add a whole new primitive menu exclusive to The Grain Haus. The menu features both custom and signature wood fired pizzas prepared by John Sarnecki, a local military veteran, experienced pizzaiolo and previous owner of Eh Cumpari Pizza. Cooking on a wood fired pizza oven is truly a primitive style of cooking and only found in artisanal style restaurants. Its labor intensive and requires constant care to maintain the proper temperatures and fire strength. The venue is ideal for groups due to the community style tables inside and large outdoor tables in the summer. While Floyd County Brewing owns The Grain Haus, you will notice that the former brewpub referred to as the Brew Haus and the new Grain Haus maintain separate and independent food menus only available in each building. Most of the Haus Brews can be found available at both bars, while the Grain Haus has significantly more guest brews available. Stay tuned, because 2019 with the continued local support will likely bring more exciting changes and additions.
